Bible Reading for October 15 (ONPP)
Ezekiel 4 – 6., Psalms 97
Ezekiel 4:5 – The iniquity of the ten tribes of Israel is 390 years, reckoning from their first apostasy under Jeroboam to the destruction of Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 4:6 – The iniquity of the tribes of Benjamin and Judah 40 years, since the thirteenth year of Josiah, when Jeremiah began to prophesy (Jer_1:1, Jer_1:2), or, as some reckon it, since the eighteenth, when the book of the law was found and the people renewed their covenant with God but did not follow the renewal with a change of lifestyle to honor Him.
So Ezekiel lay either on his left side or his right side for 430 days before he was to go to Jerusalem and preach repentance to those that were so stubborn.
Ezekiel 4:14 – Peter said the same thing when God showed him the sheet full of animals to eat. What God has made clean therefore it is clean.
Ezekiel 4:15 – It was not for the introduction of uncleanness that God had told Ezekiel to use human dung but to represent what those in Jerusalem were doing during the siege. In Peter’s case God was showing him His power to make clean out of unclean and bring salvation to others than the house of Israel.
Ezekiel 5:5 – God set Israel as the bull’s eye to the nations, not for a target but as a base to spread His plan for our lives.
Ezekiel 5:11 – Because they brought into the sanctuary the worship of other gods, idols, and immoral acts God has abandoned it as a place where He would receive worship.
Ezekiel 6:8 – God does not change His purpose for Israel but leaves a remnant to continue.
Ezekiel 6:9 – Repentance is despising yourself for the sin you have committed.
Psalms 97:1 – Amen!
Psalms 97:6 – This is a preview of the end times in Revelation.
