Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works.
Bible Reading for November 1 (ONPP)
I John 1 – 2, Psalms 111
I John 1:1 – This is eyewitness testimony.
I John 2:1 – When you are charged with a crime you hire a lawyer (advocate) to represent you. If you do not seek a lawyer and try to represent yourself the old saying applies “A Man Who Is His Own Lawyer Has a Fool for a Client” In the court of God the only one that is qualified to be the advocate is Jesus, who came down from the Father being born as a man having the experience of both God and man. Without Him there is no one qualified to be our advocate with the Father. Take your case to Christ and give it to Him for adjudication He has offered to pay for your defense and the penalty for your crime at no charge to you. But again if you will not accept Him you will have no defense for your crime.
I John 2:7 – The old commandment – Love God and love one another.
I John 2:8 – The new commandment – we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another.
Psalms 111:2 – We who do have pleasure in the works of the Lord see the rest of the world and pray for their salvation. Pray that their heart may be turned toward the Lord and their path would lead to Heaven instead of destruction.
Psalms 111:10 – Wisdom is the ultimate in the quest of knowledge. Knowing how to apply what you have learned is more effective than misapplying the truth. Satan kept misapplying the Word of God when he was tempting Jesus. God even says that His people are destroyed because of the lack of knowledge. And what shall we fear of God? We should fear His punishment of our sinful choices and nature. It is His Law that we break and we are responsible to atone for that sinfulness. He though is so wonderful to provide a substitute that does not fall under the penalty of breaking the Law so that we may rely on Him to have paid the penalty of our sinfulness.
