Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for March 29 (ONPP)
Luke 7 – 8, Psalms 75
Luke 7:1 – If you think you are righteous and have been forgiven for only a few things you do not understand the true scope of what you need to be forgiven for. Can you keep the first commandment? Do you put your own wants before God? That is my trouble too. God forgives if you will embrace His plan of forgiveness through Jesus the Christ.
Luke 7:3 – Luke gives us either a little more background to the centurion’s problem of a servant who he loved as a son, or a second centurion with an ailing servant.
Luke 7:13 – This widow now has no one to care for her. Her husband had given her an heir but the heir is now dead and she has no one to redeem the inheritance or provide for her. Her need is great and all that Jesus did to fill that need was to speak and life returned to the son.
Luke 7:22 – A prophecy fulfilled from Isaiah 61:1 & Psalms 72:13.
Luke 7:24 – What did you go out to see? Did you bring a report of what you saw to others?
Luke 7:27 – A prophecy fulfilled from Malachi 3:1.
Luke 7:28 – Being filled with the Spirit of God before he was born, John was rejoicing over Jesus’s presence in his mother’s womb.
Luke 7:30 – John’s baptism was to show the turning away from sin. The people knew that they were sinners but the Pharisees had their own righteousness and did not need to repent in their own eyes.
Luke 7:47 – Even one sin, if that is possible, condemns a person to the debt owed for sin, death. For when we sin we put ourselves in a more important position than we put God and therefore break that first commandment to have put other gods (our self) before Him.
Luke 8:4 – Some people don’t care about Christ, some come to Him in trouble but don’t put down roots (9–11 Sunday), some come but see profit in the things of the world, some come and stay digging deep into the Word and tell many about Christ.
Luke 8:8 – Jesus cried! Was it that he mourned over those that were lost or was elated for those that produced fruit?
Luke 8:18 – Be careful HOW you hear. For example parables. Try to think about what is said by the person you are talking with. Sometimes hearing at face value is not enough.
Luke 8:32 – The children of GAD keeping unclean pigs?!
Luke 8:37 – Jesus healed the demonic and the population sent Jesus away because their pigs were killed (money was lost). Talk about the concerns of the world (thorns).
Luke 8:39 – The people needed a missionary to proclaim the glory of God and the works of the Christ.
Luke 8:43 – Jesus did not go to everyone that He healed but on this occasion it was to fulfill God’s plan for this woman to be healed of the problem that she had so long suffered with.
Luke 8:44 – The woman had faith to reach out and touch and be healed, Jairus had faith to bring Christ to the person to be healed, the centurion had faith to ask for healing for another. At what point of faith do we approach Christ?
