Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for March 22 (ONPP)
Luke 2 – 3, Psalms 69

Luke 2:1 – This was a property tax and the owners of the property had to register their property in their home city. Joseph must have had property in Bethlehem that forced him to return and register there or possibly lose that property to Rome. He must also have leased the property out to another person for when he did return he had no place to stay.
Luke 2:34–35 – Many say that they worship God yet they do not recognize Jesus as the way God has provided toward salvation so their subterfuge is revealed.
Luke 3:1–2 – The date of the beginning of John’s ministry is given.
Luke 3:4 – A short term prophecy fulfilled from Malachi 3:1 & Isaiah 40:3, thus giving credence to the longer term prophecy.
Luke 3:8 – If we are repentant of our sin then we will bring forth the best fruit to honor God. The fruit was not only for the sacrifice but also love of God and care of our fellow man.
Luke 3:17 – This is a frightening prophecy for the chaff of the harvest. There will not be any to escape the threshing floor and the division of the good fruit and the chaff is permanent.
Luke 3:22 – The witness of the Holy Spirit descending upon Jesus and the verbal witness of God upon His Son is sufficient to confirm that Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God.
Luke 3:23 – This research Luke has done provides a timeline of the writing being before the destruction of the records and the temple in 72AD.
Psalms 69 – A Messianic Psalm in which David is showing us that we should seek God’s guidance and protection when we are unjustly accused or attacked.
Psalms 69:30–31 – As Samuel said to Saul it is better to obey God than any sacrifices so David says here it is better to praise God than sacrifices.
