Bible Reading for July 17 (ONPP)
Job 22 – 26, Psalms 20
Job 22:2 – The profitability of a wise man is to seek God.
Job 22:3 – It is God’s pleasure to impart righteousness to those that believe Him. Eliphaz was not present at the beginning of the book when God used Job as an upright and righteous example to Satan. Yes Eliphaz, God does find pleasure in our righteousness for it comes from Him.
Job 22:12 – Eliphaz realizes that heaven is beyond the stars yet God still watches and cares for us.
Job 22:16 – Eliphaz recognizes the flood as a historical fact. He believes in God but does not recognize God’s power.
Job 23:3–6 – To go to the Judge to state your case is not the answer the answer is to beg for mercy to an all–powerful and loving God. In verse 6 Job is setting himself up for God’s response later in the book.
Job 23:7 – But Job, there is none righteous except the only begotten Son of God, Jesus the Christ.
Job 23:10 – Before gold comes out there is fire to separate the impurities. I feel that Job does realize that.
Job 23:15 – As Job talks and gets closer to bringing his case to God he realizes that his heart grows faint and he cannot look upon the perfect Creator.
Job 24:16–17 – Like cockroaches they run from the light to not be seen because they know the wrong they do will be avenged in the light, just as the Law is the light to sin.
Job 26:7 – The Earth does not hang from anything nor is it setting on anything. It is not turtles all the way down, it is God the Creator all the way to the top.
Psalms 20 – in today’s reading the Syrians trusted in their chariots and the Ammonites trusted in their walls but God defeated the Syrians with Israel and defeated the Ammonites with fear and humility.
