Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works.
Bible Reading for July 1 (ONPP)
Romans 14 – 16, Psalms 6
Romans 14:2–3 – One person may want only a small plate full or a low carb serving. Others may want to have a full plate or even pork or shellfish. (Lev_11:10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing that is in the waters, they shall be an abomination to you.)
Romans 14:5 – One man’s Sabbath Day is another man’s first day or celebration of resurrection. It is important that we honor God every day and have one day devoted to keep holy.
Romans 14:13 – Don’t make rules that others cannot follow. Worship in love that all may come to worship God but not idols whether made by hands or mind.
Romans 14:15 – Paul seems to be saying that by separating yourself from the common food or people, for as he admonished Peter, is a stumbling block to the weak and also the “strong”. The “strong” lording their observance of the law over the weak where the law does not save but it is by God’s grace through faith that we are saved. And the weak thinking salvation by faith is not enough. We all have the same failure, the same Savior, and the same payment that He made for our sin.
Romans 15:5 – We are to be in unity glorifying God, not adding in unscriptural policies.
Romans 15:12 – As before; God is not through with Israel but is now giving the Gentiles an opportunity for salvation.
Romans 15:18 – There were still things that Paul did not understand and he declined to make comment about such things until God made them plain to him.
Romans 15:21 – Now the time has come for the Gentiles to hear about God’s love for everyone. The nation of Israel was supposed to be priests to bring God’s message to the Gentiles but they hid the message under many rules made by the priests and coveted a position of self–made pride.
Romans 15:21 – God is using those that worshiped non speaking or hearing idols to see and understand His path to salvation.
Romans 16:18 – Just as Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas, they say what God provided was not enough.
Psalms 6:10 – David is praying for someone he loves that they may be ashamed rather than a gentile enemy to be destroyed.
