Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for January 18 (ONPP)
Matthew 8 – 9, Psalms 15
Matthew 8 – One miracle after another, ho hum. This is not just another miracle. It is the testimony of God that this is His son and that Jesus is the one that has come to fulfill the position that God promised to Eve. That the Serpent would bruise His heel. The rest of the prophecy will be fulfilled when the book of Revelation is fulfilled.
Matthew 8:10 – All the rest of the people that came to Jesus for healing wanted for Him to be present to see the miracle but this man just asked for it to be done as Moses should have done when he returned to the rock to get water for Israel. Interesting that Jesus offered to go to the centurion’s home when in John 4:46+ He told the Capernaum noble that his son was healed and would not go to his home. Was this to contrast the faith of the two men?
Matthew 8:11-12 – Jesus is telling them that salvation is for all the people of the world that come to Him. Sadly however there will be many of the nation of Israel, which was intended to be a nation of priests to God, will deny that salvation and rely on their heritage to save them.
Matthew 8:17 – A prophecy fulfilled.
Matthew 9:1-8 – Jesus left the Gadarenes as asked but He left them with a missionary. Returning to Capernaum the people received Him and were amazed at His authority and began glorifying God.
Matthew 9:12 – Jesus again begins to speak in parables to those that question His actions.
