Matthew 16 – 18, Psalms 30
Matthew 16:1 – These leaders did not recognize Daniel’s prophecy of the seventy weeks ” 7 Year groups ” or the wise men’s timed visit from the east.
Matthew 16:4 – Jonah was swallowed by a whale and in there for three days. God raised him and the whale spit him out on the shore. Would these leaders believe after the resurrection of Jesus?
Matthew 16:13–16 – From asking what the world says to asking what the disciples say.
Matthew 6:18 – Jesus called Simon Barjona a stone or Peter larger than a mill stone but He called the statement Simon made a mass of rock like bedrock on which to set a foundation of a large building.
Gates are also used as a defensive measure but this bedrock statement will be able to break through in victory.
Matthew 16:21 – Jesus reveals that He must die to pay the debt my sin incurred. Even though He is making it plain to the disciples they still have a problem understanding the upcoming events.
Matthew 16:23 – How quickly we can turn from being blessed to rebuked when we put our own wishes before God’s plan.
Matthew 16:28 – Jesus did take Peter, James, and John to the top of the mountain of transfiguration to see Him in His glory. John was given the vision of Revelation. Paul was caught up to the Third Heaven and saw such things that he was not to reveal.
Matthew 17:2 – So this is what it looks like for Jesus to come into His kingdom. He is at the entrance gate but there is something that He must do before entering in.
Matthew 17:5 – Not only do Moses and Elijah provide a testimony to Jesus’s divinity but also the Father Himself. These three from Heaven witness of Jesus and also three on earth witness their testimony.
Matthew 17:9 – Jesus reveals that He must die to pay the debt my sin incurred. He also reveals that death is not the end there is the promise of resurrection to Heaven if you trust Him.
Matthew 17:12 – Jesus reveals that He must die to pay the debt my sin incurred.
Matthew 17:23 – Jesus reveals that He must die to pay the debt my sin incurred. He also reveals that death is not the end there is the promise of resurrection to Heaven if you trust Him.
Matthew 18:3 – A little child believes what they are told by their parents. We should believe what God as Father tells us.
Matthew 18:17 – Interesting in that Matthew was a tax–collector and Jesus attended a gathering of tax–collectors. Of course this gathering was to draw them to repentance so it should be our place to encourage repentance even if they refuse to harken to the pleading of the church.
Matthew 18:24 – Ten thousand talents or 204 metric tons of silver, reflecting an astronomical sum of 60 million denarii or 200,000 years of wages for the common worker. What is a talent worth?
