Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Chronological Bible Reading for March 3
Numbers 18-20
Numbers 18:21 – God is providing the tithe of Israel for the priests and those that take care of tabernacle and those that disassemble, transport, and erect it. Since the Levites are forbidden from an inheritance in the land they are provided for by the congregation, even though the congregation may not approach the tabernacle they will get the inheritance of the land for their provision.
Numbers 18:26 – So the priests get the tithe of tithe to supply them with all the support that they need.
Numbers 20:8 – This second time that they come to this rock God commands Moses to speak to the rock because it had already been smitten in Exodus 17:6. In this example God shows us that the Christ only needs to be smitten once to give living water. There is no need to crucify Christ again and again just ask and the water of life will be provided. This example could have been just as effective if Moses had spoken to the rock but it would not have emphasized that as Christ is stricken once of sin we also receive salvation only once. Just as God alone made the covenant to Abraham, He also makes salvation a covenant to us, if we receive it, and He keeps His Word no matter what we or anyone else do. Don’t be confused, He will give His people a heart that will not follow after sinful covetousness.
Numbers 20:14 – Israel is south of the Dead Sea and it is time to head toward the entry to the Promised Land. They headed east and kindly asked Edom for passage through their land but the size of the multitude, still about two and one half million, was very imposing and Edom refused.
Numbers 20:24 – Sin can have the result of shortening our life. Such sin does not affect our salvation, because we do not keep our salvation it is held in trust by God. Our salvation is not earned by us but given by God in His grace through the faith that He gives us.
