Chronological Bible Reading for January 30
Exodus 1-3
Exodus 1:8 – Every generation arises without the knowledge of God. If they are not taught about God and His wrath, mercy, and grace then their own nature will teach them that being wicked is fine.
Exodus 1:10 – Pharaoh doesn’t want Israel to leave because he is already relying on them to help Egypt.
Exodus 1:12 – There is more happiness at home for Israel than on the job.
Exodus 1:17 – You are supposed to honor your leaders except when they tell you to go against God’s Law. Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the: whole matter. Fear God, and keep His commandments. For this is the whole duty of man.
Exodus 1:22 – The river Nile was worshiped as a god and thus casting their sons in would amount to sacrificing to an Egyptian god.
Exodus 2:3 – Even though Moses was cast into the Nile, he was protected in the ark made by his mother while God was going to protect him by putting him in Pharaoh’s household.
Exodus 2:6 – How did she know the baby was a Hebrew child? He was in the Nile like the Hebrew males were supposed to be but he also was circumcised!
Exodus 2:9 – Not only did Moses’s mother get to keep and raise her son but she got paid for it also. This is not welfare, it is work. She was responsible to provide and protect an adopted son of Pharaoh’s daughter.
Exodus 2:15 – Moses fled the king for his safety just as Joseph fled to Egypt to protect his family from Herod.
Exodus 2:17 – Moses watered the flock of Reuel just as Jacob watered the flock of Laban.
Exodus 3:8 – The time has come for the Amorites to receive their punishment for disobedience to God. Evidently their iniquity was full see Genesis 15:16.
Exodus 3:12 – Wow! What a sign! When you get back here with them then you will know that I sent you. Just like Jacob had said that he would worship God when God brought him back to the place he was at. Although God’s promise to Moses was to be an action of faith verses an evidence of faithfulness for Jacob.
Exodus 3:14 – God shows us here that He is stable and unchanging. He did not say His name was, He did not say His name will be, He said that His name is I AM. God is not a entity of past or future. He says He is the God of Abraham not was and therefore Abraham lives too, even though his body no longer functions.
Exodus 3:22 – The Egyptians will be so glad to see you go they will pay you to leave, the original “golden parachute deal”.
