Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Chronological Bible Reading for January 15
Job 40-42
Job 40:7 – Is Job going to teach God? I think not.
Job 40:8 – Many people try to be self–justified and they all fail.
Job 40:11 – God says to abase the proud (self–justified) person.
Job 40:14 – If you can do what God can do then you can save yourself.
Job 40:15–24 – The description of the behemoth to Job and those with him describes a large, strong grass eating animal with a long strong tail and is able to withstand the flooding of the Jordan river. This animal must have lived during Job’s time for God to use it as an example.
Job 40:19 – I God saying here that the behemoth was the first to go extinct? The Word of God is like a sharp two edged sword! Also the behemoth is described like a dinosaur (brachiosaurs probably).
Job 41:1–10 – God then describes the leviathan as a strong fearsome creature that no one can survive. God says if you cannot subdue the leviathan then what makes you think you can stand up to God?
Job 41:8 – If you get into a battle with a leviathan you will die and not be able to do battle again.
Job 41:16 – Interesting reference to the leviathan’s shields. Some kind of scales? Almost sounds like how people describe dragons.
Job 41:27 – The book of Job is supposed to be the oldest writing of a book in the Bible and yet it references iron as commonly as bronze. By the way there are instances of straws going through wooden posts but never rotten wood going through anything.
Job 42:3 – Job has repented from his pride and self–justification to recognize God as Holy and Just.
Job 42:7 – Interesting that God does not include Elihu that rebuked Job’s self–righteous ranting and extolled God’s purity and righteousness. God has determined the price of redemption for Job’s three friends and who will be the mediator between them and Him.
Job 42:10 – When Job finished the act of what God had required, God restored to Job double the blessings that he had had before.
Job 42:11 – Where were these when Job had been afflicted or was their absence part of the affliction?
