II Timothy 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
Chronological Bible Reading for September 2
Ezekiel 20-21
Ezekiel 20:1 – God rejects these “elders of Israel” because they reject the importance of Jehovah God in their own lives. They come for a word for their own profit instead of repentance of their own sinful actions that got them exiled from Israel to this place of judgement. The call of God is always toward repentance of sin. Sin is not just actions but even the passive rejection of Jehovah as Sovereign.
Ezekiel 20:9 – God is not relying on man to keep the covenant that He made in the presence of Abraham.
Ezekiel 20:31 – The hearts of the leaders were not turned to honor God but they were only thinking of themselves. God does not hear the prayers of the unrighteous but He hears the prayers of the repentant of heart.
Ezekiel 20:36 – God is using the reference of Israel’s wandering as a result of disobedience as a simile to Israel’s current exile.
Ezekiel 20:38 – When God brought back the remnant to Israel they were not forced out like in Egypt but only those that were willing to return to rebuild their nation and temple to Jehovah returned leaving those that did not care in their exiled country. The descendants of these are still in those eastern nations struggling against Israel because of their rebellion against Jehovah.
Ezekiel 21:10 – Jesus will reign with an iron rod.
