Chronological Bible Reading for November 10
Luke 22; John 13
Luke 22:3 – The Holy Spirit had not come upon the disciples, yet the others had put their faith in Jesus as the Messiah where Judas was looking toward a Messiah that would bring salvation now.
Luke 22:6 – In the night “behind closed doors”.
Luke 22:10 – Jesus’s prophecy of provision for the Passover. Not just go to such and such house but follow the man bearing a pitcher of water. Take each step as God shows it to you. The end will be as He has said.
Luke 22:14 – This being the first Lord’s Supper that began in Egypt with the preparation for freedom and the opportunity to follow Jehovah’s commands.
Luke 22:23 – It is obvious that Judas knew that he was the one but the reactions of the rest of the disciples shows that he was duplicitous in his reaction and his heart was still looking for a now salvation for Israel and not a sacrifice that had to be made for our sin.
Luke 22:24 – They had this discussion before. Do you think they were discussing in what way they could best be a servant?
Luke 22:32 – Simon Peter still needed conversion from faith in Jesus’s work to faith in His sacrifice for our sin.
Luke 22:36 – When you go out be prepared to pay your own way and protect yourself. The world does not respect God’s provision for salvation and will not respect you for telling them about it.
Luke 22:37 – A prophecy to be fulfilled from Isaiah 53:12.
Luke 22:51 – Jesus may not have wanted the high priest to have anything of substance to bring up against Him or He wanted to let the servant know that He cares for him.
Luke 22:67 – A prophecy to shortly come true.
Luke 22:70 – The prophecy fulfilled.
Luke 22:67b If I tell you, you will not believe.
Luke 22:71 – They should then fall down and worship Him as God, instead they try to destroy the Son of the Owner to receive the inheritance for themselves.
John 13:6 – Then He came to Simon Peter, enough said if you remember how Simon Peter had acted before. Simon Peter is showing his pride in not letting his Teacher teach him again. This instance is a time of learning for Simon Peter if he opens his heart to understand it.
John 13:14 – Jesus is also speaking of washing sin out of our lives. We need to help each other clean up our hearts from the daily grime of ourselves even if we have been forgiven of our sins. It is not the besetting sin of the rejection of God’s plan for us but our nature of self that needs cleaning.
John 13:15 – Our pride should not prevent us from bowing low to help.
John 13:18 – A prophecy fulfilled from Psalm 41:9.
John 13:31 – Is allowing Judas to leave and betray Him, the last act Jesus had to do for the rest to come to pass?
John 13:34 – The eleventh commandment and it follows the second greatest commandment to love your neighbor as yourself.
