Chronological Bible Reading for July 13
II Chronicles 27; Isaiah 9-12
Isaiah 9:1 – That area of Israel was considered worthless even just before the time of Jesus.
John 1:46 And Nathanael said to him, Can there be any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.
God did come to honor Galilee in that Jesus based His ministry in that area where many were healed, fed, and believed.
Isaiah 9:6 – The prophecy of the Son of God, Jesus the Christ, for no other than God can reign eternally as head of the government
Isaiah 9:10 – The Ephraimites are in their pride saying that their works will save them. They will replace their shoddy construction with stronger materials. Even then with shoddy construction practices the stronger materials will fail. The weaker building materials will be replaced by stronger more durable materials. Those weak in faith will be given reason to have strong faith. This strengthening also comes from knowing God’s Word and seeing His work through it. Since He has been faithful through His Word He will also be faithful to complete it within us. These people are boasting in pride of self not the protection provided by Jehovah.
Isaiah 9:13 – Even when God has given us a strong defense against sinfulness the people think themselves as strong and do not turn to God for the strength needed for protection.
Isaiah 10:11 – The people should not have ignored this warning. King Jotham kept his heart toward God but the people were obstinate and followed their own selfishness and pride.
Isaiah 10:17 – When we see a fire, we may call the fire department to put it out, but some fires are set to remove the underbrush to prevent greater destruction later.
Isaiah 10:20 – The result of this fiery destruction is freedom from oppression and sin, freedom to worship God.
Isaiah 10:23 – God reaffirms that He will complete what He has started.
Isaiah 11:1 – Even though David’s royal line was cut back, the line of inheritance continues to the Christ.
Isaiah 11:10 – This Root of Jesse is the branch grown from the stump of royalty. Being a root it comes before the stump mentioned in verse 1 and therefore was there before Jesse.
Isaiah 11:11 – Is this second recovery a second resurrection that is meant for believers coming out of the Great Tribulation and Millennium?
