Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works.
Chronological Bible Reading for December 28
Revelation 1-5
Revelation 1:3 – There is a blessing for you by reading and hearing the book of Revelation.
Revelation 1:4 – The seven spirits is a reference to unmeasurable (complete) gifts of God on His Son; the Holy Spirit, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and reverence to the creator. Isaiah 11:2–3
I wonder if these gifts relate to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.
Revelation 1:5 – Many others were raised from the dead but they would die again. Jesus was the first that was raised to life without end.
Revelation 1:13 – With seven churches, seven spirits, seven lampstands, seven seals, seven trumpets, seven thunders, seven vials of wrath there are seven distinct things of seven in the book of Revelation. Does this signify the completion of completeness?
Revelation 1:14 – No beard is described because that was part of the curse on Adam.
Revelation 1:17 – This is a revelation that we cannot miss. He is the First, and no one was before God. He became dead and is the only one to have been raised to life eternal. The only one that fits that description is Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:19 – There are three time groups to follow. First the things which were, the greeting to the churches and the vision of Jesus Christ, the things which are, the admonitions to the churches currently in Asia, and the things which are to come are the things shown after John was told “come up”. The name Son of Man has a unique reference in Heaven.
Revelation 2:2 – The steadfastness of truth that the church at Ephesus had pleased God.
Revelation 2:4 – The church at Ephesus had lost their zeal to spread the gospel. They had been on the defense so much they had forgotten to be on the offense. The Word of the Lord is a powerful two edged sword.
Revelation 2:9 – The church at Smyrna was under intense oppression.
Revelation 2:12 – Pergamos being the capital of Asia minor in those days had three Greek god temples and a temple to Caesar where they were to worship daily. This seat of Satan promotes worship of a man as a god this is what the serpent was accomplishing when he tempted Eve in the garden. Also that is what the Antichrist, the beast, further in this book is set as a man trying to be a god.
Revelation 2:14 – Even the body of the church had been infected with those who were trying to tear the truth of the gospel away from mankind.
Revelation 2:20 – Thyatira had a narcissistic woman leading the people away from the gospel to (serving themselves) the god of pleasure.
Revelation 2:21 – God is always ready to receive one that repents of their sin and turns to Him.
Revelation 2:4 – There were some that had not turned to this woman’s teachings and God is going to reward them if they hold on to their trust in Him.
Revelation 3:1 – The seven Spirits of God are described as given to Jesus in Isaiah 11:2. The church at Sardis is trying to perform works without faith or love to live up to their reputation without integrity.
Revelation 3:3 – God is giving them a chance to turn back to the true gospel not of meaningless works but of grace, faith, and love.
Revelation 3:5 – The majority of people in the church in Sardis were dead from their works as described in verse 1 and were in danger of their names being blotted out of the Book of Life because they were trying to be a church of works and not faith. J. Vernon says the Book of Life is the book of those that are living and have the opportunity to receive salvation through faith.
Revelation 3:8 – God’s gift to the church in Philadelphia was an open door to spread the gospel in spite of those who would persecute them.
Revelation 3:15 – The Laodicean church was so middle of the road and wishy washy in their faith that they were not fit to represent the gospel and would be ejected from the Church.
Revelation 3:20 – Yet God is willing to receive a repentant heart.
Revelation 4:1 – This verse divides the time of the Church to the time future where the church is not mentioned on Earth.
Revelation 4:3 – John had a hard time giving us a picture of the throne and the One on it. It was like a jasper stone, a rainbow like an emerald. But John had no trouble in telling us the honor that the One had being seen by the angels as holy, holy, holy, being seen by the elders as superior and eternal.
Revelation 4:4 – Who are the 24 elders and where did they come from.
Revelation 4:8 – The terms was, is, and is to come, mirror what John was told to write about.
Revelation 5:6 – Being in the midst of the throne screams this is God as the Son slain from the foundation of the earth.
Revelation 5:13 – Every creature is designed to glorify God as Father, Son, and Spirit.
