Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works.
Chronological Bible Reading for December 24
2 Timothy 1-4
II Timothy 1:1 – II Timothy is probably Paul’s last letter before he was executed.
II Timothy 1:12 – Paul has committed the salvation of his soul to God, knowing full well that he, Paul, could not keep it himself or even obtain it himself, but it is given by God and kept in a trinity of protection.
II Timothy 1:14 – God has committed His Holy Spirit to dwell within us as a commitment, down payment, of His promise of redemption. The full payment has been made through the death of the perfect sacrificial Lamb of God, Jesus the Christ, and we are just waiting to be picked up.
II Timothy 2:2 – Paul’s charge to Timothy has had a long reach to us. Timothy and all those faithful men throughout time have been faithful to continue this reach, not through Paul’s charge but from the leading of the Holy Spirit in God’s will.
II Timothy 2:5 – The competitor will not be crowned if they are disqualified.
II Timothy 2:15 – This command is one of the reasons for this Bible reading plan.
II Timothy 3:2–9 – Man does not get better and better with the increase of technology. He just has easier ways to be disobedient to God. The lazy will follow the easier, Godless, path, making themselves their own god of slough, and not see their disobedience due to their veil of ignorance. This veil is just a covering because the whole creation is a witness of the Glory of God.
II Timothy 4:13 – Paul was expecting a cold winter. This also shows that Paul was not relying on his earlier learning in the synagogue but continued to study when he could.
II Timothy 4:16 – Paul’s forgiveness mirrors God’s mercy and grace, allowing us that have rejected Him in the past to repent and honor Him with faith not being rejected but accepted by the saints.
