II Timothy 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
Chronological Bible Reading for December 18
1 Timothy 1-6
I Timothy 1:3–5 – Don’t let false teaching come in, or accept fables, or try to find righteousness through your ancestors, but love one another unselfishly and hold on to faith in God’s work through Christ.
I Timothy 1:7 – These swerved people have fallen off the path that God has made for redemption and salvation. They have gone into the wilderness of knowledge, without a guide, making their own path.
I Timothy 1:12 – Sometimes a person just needs to be chosen, to continue on the correct path. It was such a honor to be chosen to that position that it should make one not to dirty it with unrighteous living. This is how we should feel when God calls us to salvation. The honor He bestows upon us to be an adopted child of His and heir within His riches makes him worthy of our obedience.
I Timothy 2:4 – It is God’s will for all to come to repentance but He allows us our will, to deney Him, for His Glory.
I Timothy 3:16 – Mystery is Christ
Manifested in the flesh
Justified by the Spirit at baptism and resurrection.
Seen by angels at birth, after temptation, after resurrection, at ascension.
Preached about to the Gentiles not just the Jews
Believed on in the world for that preaching was not in vain
Receive into Glory at His ascension.
I Timothy 4:1–3 – There are many that depart from faith and try to reach God with their own actions. Some shy away from technology, others try to make themselves pure by their diet, still others follow a strict regimen of religious acts. None of those things will bring us to God. It is His Grace that gives us faith to be the witness to others that will draw them to Him.
I Timothy 4:8 – Being strong and trim may help you do some work here but we all will come to the end of this world and strength of muscle will not help us in eternity but godliness extends its effect through eternity.
I Timothy 5:4 – Don’t shun the opportunity to care for your parents or grandparents. Jesus even rebuked the priests for not caring for their parents. See I Timothy 5:8
I Timothy 5:11 – Should there therefore be no young nuns?
I Timothy 5:24 – The former is the reason that we have prisons while the latter is judged by God at the Great Throne of Judgement.
I Timothy 6:2 – In many instances the slave is there to pay off a debt and paying that debt without respect would cause criticism by unbelievers.
