Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Chronological Bible Reading for April 4
Judges 13-15
Judges 13:1 – Here is the seventh time that Israel has turned away from God in the book of Judges.
Judges 13:8 – This is interesting since the word of a woman was to be confirmed or denied by her husband or father if unmarried. Thus Manoah is asking God for confirmation as he ponders the message. As Mary received a message from an angel so Joseph also got confirmation of his duty.
Judges 13:14 – Jesus was also to be a Nazarite.
Judges 13:18 – Even though the KJV translates the name as being secret other versions translate the name as “Wonderful” a proper name and following the idea that the Angel of the Lord is the pre–incarnate Jesus.
Judges 13:22 – Manoah recognizes the Angel as God just as Abram did.
Judges 14:1 – God forbade them to marry the people that were in Canaan in Exodus 34:16 yet Sampson did not have a heart to obey God but did enjoy his strength and did not want to lose it.
Judges 14:2 – Samson was not so full of himself yet as to not ask his father’s help.
Judges 14:4 – Samson did not know this either but he was just trying to “honorably” fulfill his lust.
Judges 14:9 – God had also commanded Israel not to touch the dead bodies of an animal.
Judges 14:12 – Sampson just put his foot in his mouth. Making a wager on a riddle that he could not keep to himself.
Judges 15:1 – After being humbled, Samson goes back with a appeasement present to retrieve his wife and finds out about their unrighteous act.
Judges 15:3 – Samson was a public figure and represented the nation Israel in the eyes of the Philistines since they were exercising authority over Israel. Now Samson takes this affront against himself and Israel as an overt attack.
Judges 15:6 – The Philistines attempted to show Samson their disapproval of what had happened to him by punishing those that had provoked his wrath. Yet Samson was not appeased.
Judges 15:15 – Here is the first thousand men, plus the thirty before, killed by Samson. Yes I’m keeping count.
Judges 15:18 – Unlike Moses that struck the rock the second time for water Samson asks for water and is refreshed.
