Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Chronological Bible Reading for February 4
Exodus 16-18
Exodus 16:3 – Well, well are we out of food? Don’t complain about hunger ask God for provision.
Exodus 16:4 – Another part of the BIG If that God uses to show Israel that they must rely upon Him.
Exodus 16:20 – Here they go defying the BIG If they were just given, not listening and not obeying.
Exodus 16:27 – The first group tried to save some and this group is also defying the BIG If they were just given, not listening and not obeying. Many people don’t want to listen and even when they do they will not believe to obey. This disobedience shows why without Christ we are all condemned. The preparation of the food was allowed but the search for food was not following God’s command to rest in Exodus 12:16.
Exodus 16:31 – Yum, yum.
Exodus 16:33 – The pot was laid up for Aaron’s generations, the priests that would guide the people till the coming of the one that would crush the head of the serpent.
Exodus 17:2 – Here we go again. God wants us to come to Him and ask for His provision not gripe and complain about not having any. This complaining sounds like people that have no hope for their life. Christ is the hope in life and provision for our salvation.
Exodus 17:6 – This is the first time that Moses smites this rock to get water so that the Israelites will live. Jesus was smitten once and only once to give us living water that springs from our soul. All we have to do is just ask.
Exodus 17:8 – Is this group descended from Esau’s grandson Amalek?
Exodus 17:12 – Ecc 4:8 There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither son nor brother; yet there is no end to all his labor; and his eyes are not satisfied with riches; and he says, For whom do I labor and take good from my soul? This is also vanity. Yes, it is an evil business.
Ecc 4:9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor.
Ecc 4:10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he does not have another to help him.
Ecc 4:11 Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one be warm alone?
Ecc 4:12 And if one overthrows him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Exodus 17:14 – Remember this when we come to the books of Samuel.
Exodus 17:15 – Here is another name for God, Jehovah Nissee – Jehovah My Banner. Moses held up the Rod of God as a banner in the battle.
Exodus 18:21 – This is a good example of having small groups such as Sunday School and Discipleship Classes where more individuals can get one to one interaction with the leadership. But having the correct leadership is the most important step.
Exodus 18:27 – Moses’s father–in–law took back with him the description of what God had done for Israel and surely it was widespread over the next forty years.
