Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Chronological Bible Reading for February 3
Exodus 13-15
Exodus 13:2 – God was showing Israel that human life was precious and the firstborn males belonged to Him as a remembrance of the slaying of the firstborn of Egypt. The firstborn of their heard animals were to be brought for a sacrifice but the firstborn of the unclean animals could have his neck broken if he was not redeemed.
Numbers 18:17 But the first–born of a cow, or the first–born of a sheep, or the first–born of a goat, you shall not redeem. They are holy. You shall sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shall burn their fat, an offering made by fire, for a sweet savor to Jehovah.
Exodus 13:18 – Israel was armed but not yet trained in combat and not yet trained in trusting in God.
Exodus 13:19 – Remember, Joseph did not say if you are taken out of this place but when you are taken out of this place.
Exodus 13:21 – God gave these pillars as guidance of where to go, who to believe in, and comfort that He was with them to protect and provide for them.
Exodus 14:2 – Pihahiroth – means mouth of gorges. The exact place where they camped is not known but it was by the sea and there are several places where others say it is.
Exodus 14:3 – God is telling Moses I have a plan, do not to worry. Pharaoh will say that the Israelites are stuck at the end of the land and have no place to go because of the sea and he will come after you.
Exodus 14:11 – Just like us the Israelites did not learn that God protects and provides and they became afraid of Pharaoh the one that God had moved against 10 times before.
Exodus 14:19 – These pillars of cloud and fire are none other than The Angel of God (the pre–incarnate Christ).
Exodus 14:21 – This splitting of the sea and the drying of the ground was quick. So Israel began to follow the path between the waters that God had made for them. Would you have gotten to the middle and wandered off the path into a wall of water to be swept away? Many people get on the path to salvation and then are drawn away by their lust of the things they encounter on the way.
Exodus 14:23 – Pharaoh gets brave and follows them through the darkness into the sea.
Exodus 14:25 – Think of this you are marching and in the early daylight you see a wall of water on both sides of you. Do you panic? What has Pharaoh gotten us into?
Exodus 14:28 – Some people say that Israel crossed at a place where the water had been only 6 inches deep. Glory to God! He drowned the whole army of Pharaoh and washed them away in 6 inches of water!
Exodus 14:31 – Now that they have seen what God has done, for most of the plagues did not affect Israel, maybe they are learning to trust Him. Well, we will see.
Exodus 15:1 – It is so joyful when you are saved from calamity you just want to sing. Double entendre meant here. When you accept the free gift of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus the Christ, it is joyful, and relieves the burden of sins and rejection. A freedom of conscience that can be found nowhere else.
Exodus 15:21 – There was so much joy that they could not hold back the praises to God, the telling of the story of how He saved them. Do you have a story to tell? Write it down and tell others at your opportunity adding to it during your life.
Exodus 15:25 – The symbolism of the tree turning something bitter and repulsive into something sweet relates to the cross being a symbol of condemnation (Deu_21:22) and Christ making it a symbol of redemption! Yes, Christ had to die and assume the guilt of sin for us while the tree also died to receive the reproach of the water.
Exodus 15:26 – AH the BIG If raises back up. God is promising good things to those who listen to Him and do rightly that they will be free of the diseases of Egypt. Here also is one of the names of God, Jehovah Rapha – Jehovah the healer.
