Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works.
Bible Reading for August 8 (ONPP)
Ecclesiastes 1 – 3, Proverbs 1
Ecclesiastes 1:6 – High and Low pressure systems form circles of wind that flow areound them and also upward and downward near their centers.
Ecclesiastes 1:7 – This is a good description of the water cycle.
Ecclesiastes 1:10 – The sacrifice of the only begotten Son of God to satisfy the ransom for our soul will be a new thing preacher, even though this Son, Jesus, is from before the beginning and the prophecy of Him has been given many times before you wrote this.
Ecclesiastes 2:12–26 – Wisdom without God leads down the same path as the fool that despises wisdom and instruction.
Ecclesiastes 3:18 – Yes preacher, I too have the hope that men might see themselves as in need of a redeemer to pay the ransom for their sin.
“PROVERBS AGAIN?” Yes Proverbs again but not all at once this time.
Proverbs ch 1–31 – Solomon was telling his son over and over to know wisdom but his son turned away from the wise and toward foolishness. This decision split the nation causing the northern kingdom to declare their own king and accepting worship of a false god.
This also goes well with Psalms 37.
Proverbs 1:1 – Proverbs needs to be read slowly and prayerfully to absorb even just a part of God’s instruction. Reading it again this year I see more than the first time.
Proverbs 1:7 – Yes we must fear God in order to believe Him. If we do not fear God then we say that He does not have the authority to decide our eternal fate. Our sin is the evidence of our rejection of God’s authority over us and condemns us as such. If we do fear God then we will try to understand His plan for our lives. Even when Abraham just believed God, God counted it to his as righteousness.
Proverbs 1:19 – Thus Rehoboam did as he listened to those around him that were without wisdom and raised taxes upon the people thus causing the splitting of the nation.
Proverbs 1:22 – God calls us to seek understanding of His Word and not just live life as if wisdom does not exist.
Proverbs 1:23 – Wisdom is the faithful watchman on the wall calling out the warning to the people.
Proverbs 1:28 – When the people are in peril and have no understanding of God then thy will not know where to turn and follow blindly the path to destruction.
