Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works.
Bible Reading for August 5 (ONPP)
II Corinthians 10 – 13, Psalms 36
II Corinthians 10:7 – If you think that you are saved by God’s grace through Christ Jesus then remember that you are a witness to others of the grace that God gives through the sacrifice of His Son.
II Corinthians 10:8 – It’s okay to boast somewhat of the position God gives you if you are encouraging others to be closer to God. Not making them feel inferior, because we are all inferior to Christ.
II Corinthians 10:12 – Many people try to justify themselves by saying “I’m just as good as ____” (being someone that goes to church and lives righteous). This is entirely true but have those people repented and turned to Christ like the one they compare themselves with? It is not our actions that bring us to salvation, it is believing in God’s plan of salvation and turning away from the denial of Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
II Corinthians 10:18 – For me it is that the Lord has used me as an example that others recognize even if they do not follow.
II Corinthians 11:4 – Recognizing others corruption of the deity of Jesus, or the message He brought, is possible with proper discipleship (study and teaching). Falling into these false narratives is a worship of self, not wanting to be looked down on by others, instead of worshiping God to be lifted up by Him.
II Corinthians 11:6 – It is sometimes difficult to find the correct words to say when talking to someone, but when writing a letter, there is time to ponder over the words to get the idea accross in a more understandable manner.
II Corinthians 11:8 – These Corinthians were a mission field and Paul was supported by the church in other cities to benefit the Corinthians.
II Corinthians 11:14 – It is interesting that the Greek word for light here is “foce” pronounced “phōs” which sounds remarkably like “faux” meaning false though I do not find a direct connection of the words.
II Corinthians 11:15 – A false minister to a false salvation results in denying the true path of salvation God has prepared.
II Corinthians 12:7 – Paul is saying that he has this fleshly experience/problem that keeps him from delusions of grandeur. Perhaps it was his eyesight or other physical problem. However a thorn is a little thing that can be ignored in unused areas or cause great discomfort in areas that are used frequently such as the hand or foot. Either place could develop into an infection that could spread through the whole body if not treated.
II Corinthians 12:8 – This thorn is used to keep Paul from being too proud of his mission work and to give that glory to God knowing that God loves him and uses him as a witness that others may see his weakness and believe in spite of their own weakness.
II Corinthians 13:5 – This would make a good sermon. Examine yourself, root out your faults and build up your strengths.
II Corinthians 13:10 – Paul is concerned of his pride of acceptance coming between his duty to rightly divide the word of God opposed to being accepted by the people. He writes these words now to encourage himself at the time of meeting to be faithful and true to God’s word.
Psalms 36:1–4, – John 3:18 He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only–begotten Son of God.
