Bible Reading for April 25 (ONPP)
I Samuel 29 – 31, Proverbs 17
I Samuel 29:6 – God can hide His purpose from all who oppose Him.
I Samuel 30:6 – When we experience a major loss in our lives we have the option to dwell on the problem and our feelings instead of turning away from our pride in our self “Oh woe is me” and turning to God trusting Him to help us through the recovery. Also when we experience major success, our pride becomes great and terrible if we do not honor God as the source of every good and/or perfect accomplishment.
I Samuel 30:26 – David is being generous with all that he received from God in retrieving the captives from the Amalekites. He seems to be repaying the generosity of those areas that helped during the time he was running from Saul.
I Samuel 31:6 – When we have no hope we lose all that we have. God is always there if we will turn to Him, and ask Him for forgiveness and guidance. God is ready to accept us just as He did for the thief on the cross. The other thief was too proud to honor God and His plan for salvation.
Proverbs 17:2 – Hummm. Solomon and his son were unwise and one that was a servant unto the kingdom became king of the ten tribes of Israel.
Proverbs 17:3 – God refines your mind to make it pure.
Proverbs 17:5 – It is a calamity when someone dies without Christ.
Proverbs 17:7 – Everyone would think of themselves as a prince of some type so they should not tarnish that view with lies.
Proverbs 17:8 – To some a bribe is more important than God. To do something for a bribe is to commit a lie.
Proverbs 17:9 – We all have tried to hide sin to be accepted by our friends. Forgiveness is love.
Proverbs 17:10 – It does no good to beat a dead horse.
Proverbs 17:13 – David rewarded Uriah’s faithfulness with death and strife never left his house even in his repentance.
Proverbs 17:14 – When a dam starts leaking then it’s definitely time to fix it before it fails completely. Relationships are more important than a prideful disagreement.
Proverbs 17:16 – Wisdom found by one that does not use it is useless.
Proverbs 17:23 – Again the lie result of a bribe.
Proverbs 17:28 – When a fool speaks his cover is broken and he is revealed.
