Luke 22:3 – The Holy Spirit had not come upon the disciples, yet the others had put their faith in Jesus as the Messiah where Judas was looking toward a Messiah that would bring salvation now.
Luke 22:6 – In the night “behind closed doors”.
Luke 22:10 – Jesus’s prophecy of provision for the Passover. Not just go to such and such house but follow the man bearing a pitcher of water. Take each step as God shows it to you. The end will be as He has said.
Luke 22:14 – This being the first Lord’s Supper that began in Egypt with the preparation for freedom and the opportunity to follow Jehovah’s commands.
Luke 22:23 – It is obvious that Judas knew that he was the one but the reactions of the rest of the disciples shows that he was duplicitous in his reaction and his heart was still looking for a now salvation for Israel and not a sacrifice that had to be made for our sin.
Luke 22:24 – They had this discussion before. Do you think they were discussing in what way they could best be a servant?
Luke 22:32 – Simon Peter still needed conversion from faith in Jesus’s work to faith in His sacrifice for our sin.
Luke 22:36 – When you go out be prepared to pay your own way and protect yourself. The world does not respect God’s provision for salvation and will not respect you for telling them about it.
Luke 22:37 – A prophecy to be fulfilled from Isaiah 53:12.
Luke 22:51 – Jesus may not have wanted the high priest to have anything of substance to bring up against Him or He wanted to let the servant know that He cares for him.
Luke 22:67 – A prophecy to shortly come true.
Luke 22:70 – The prophecy fulfilled.
Luke 22:67b If I tell you, you will not believe.
Luke 22:71 – They should then fall down and worship Him as God, instead they try to destroy the Son of the Owner to receive the inheritance for themselves.
Luke 23:35 – A prophecy from Psalm 22:7–8 fulfilled.
Luke 23:39 – The one man does not see the source of forgiveness before him.
Luke 23:40–42 – The other man sees his own sin and the forgiveness that is available. He grasps toward that forgiveness as his only hope.
Luke 23:44 – A three hour darkness starting at noon.
Luke 23:56 – After the burial there was still time to prepare the spices and ointments before sunset.
Luke 24:19 – Jesus wanted to hear their testimony of the events so they would remember them when they were witnessing to others.
Luke 24:22 – In verse 11 they did not believe the women and thought it foolishness.
Luke 24:25 – Now Jesus gives them the history of God’s promise to show the foundation of their witness.
Luke 24:27 – Wow! To walk with Jesus and be explained all the Scriptures concerning Him! Well we can. Begin reading the Scriptures and taking notes. The Bible is its own best interpreter.
Luke 24:32 – Jesus did not reveal Himself to them until after He explained the Scripture, Jesus used the principle that the power lies in the explanation of biblical truth, the preaching of the Word, not in the person doing the explaining. It is not us who convert the lost… it is the power of God through His Word.
Luke 24:34 – They believed Peter but not the women.
Luke 24:36 – First the witnesses and then the appearing!
Luke 24:45 – How can you understand what you have not heard or read? Believe, open the Bible, read, and understand! Is this in the same way He explained the Law and prophets to the two going to Emmaus.
Luke 24:53 – They did not have to worry about the Roman soldiers or rulers. Their names were written in the Lamb’s Book of Life!
