Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for April 17 (ONPP)
I Samuel 5 – 8, Psalms 92

I Samuel 5 – The Philistines were plagued because they had the Ark and were not supposed to have it. Conversely the defeat of Israel’s army was because they were to worship God and did not.
I Samuel 5:3 – Jehovah is a jealous God and does not tolerate worship of another around His sanctified vessels.
I Samuel 5:4 – In losing his head and hands proved that Dagon is utterly destitute both of wisdom and power, and forever disabled either to advise or act for his worshipers.
I Samuel 5:12 – God can fight His own battles in a way that shows people that He is not doing it by some natural occurrence.
I Samuel 6:4 – They do not know what is required for their guilt (sin) they send rocks but God requires blood. The two milk cows were getting close but even they were not an unspoiled offering.
I Samuel 6:9 – Even the Philistines were testing the trueness of the disease as Gideon did with the fleece. Beth–shemesh is a border town that was paying tribute to the Philistines so the riches sent with the Ark were pay back for their tribute.
I Samuel 6:13 – Imagine not seeing your children or grandchildren for seven months not knowing what happened to them then here they come surprising you and bringing gifts. The return of the Ark represents God’s blessing returning to those that worship Him.
I Samuel 6:19 – The only person that was to even see the Ark was the High Priest once per year. This trespass was so grievous that even the leadership was stricken. They were supposed to be the ones that taught the people how to approach God, which the Ark represented.
I Samuel 7:1 – These men knew how to take care of the Ark. They protected it from the elements, sanctified a priest, for Eli and his sons were dead, to care of it. Kirjath–jearim was a city in Judah.
I Samuel 7:3 – God has always wanted Israel to be the nation that would bring His message to the world. The BIG If here is the same as always, Turn away from false worship and worship God and your sins will be forgiven you and you will be safe.
I Samuel 7:10 – God keeps His promise.
I Samuel 8:3 – I guess Samuel learned how to raise his children from Eli.
I Samuel 8:7 – Just as today when someone gives out the Word of God and it is rejected, they are rejecting God not the preacher. This did not surprise God because He told Moses that this was goring to happen in Deuteronomy 17:14.
I Samuel 8:20 – Yes he will fight your battles using your children as fodder for the swords, spears, and arrows.
Psalms 92:1 – Amen!
