II Timothy 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
Bible Reading for November 24 (ONPP)
Amos 1 – 3, Psalms 131
Amos 1:1 – This earthquake has been given a date of about 750 BC. This was thought to have happened when Uzziah went to burn incense in the temple where he was forbidden by the Law and the priests.
(Henry’s Commentary) – Josephus says that he threatened the priests with death if they opposed him, and that then the earth shook, the roof of the temple opened, and through the cleft a beam of the sun darted directly upon the king’s face, wherein immediately the leprosy appeared. And some conjecture that that was the earthquake in the days of Uzziah which we read of Amos1:1 and Zechariah14:5.
Amos 1:3 – God begins to specify what will happen in the sixty five years prophesied in Isaiah 7:8 when Ephraim will be no more to the individual nations that had attacked Judah
Amos 2:4 – God is not letting Judah off with their sin either.
Amos 3:2 – A honest person will punish their own son for disobeying but not someone else’s.
Amos 3:7 – God has also given us the warning in Revelation of what will happen and what He will do.
Amos 3:4 – This will show up later, keep watching.
Psalms 131:1 – Wow to have a heart that is not proud nor eyes that are lofty.
