Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for January 12 (ONPP)
Genesis 27 – 29, Psalms 10
Genesis 28:13 – God is faithful to His covenant to Abraham.
Genesis 28:20-21 – Jacob is “putting out a fleece” as Gideon will do in the book of Judges. Jacob may not have faith in God but God has chosen him to be one in the line to Christ our Savior. God will therefore fulfill the request that Jacob gave because it is part of His plan.
Genesis 28:22 – It is obvious that the word translated house may not be accurate because the angles weren’t dwelling there they were using a staircase or ladder to go to and from the “dwelling” of God. The place could not be the house but a “door” to God.
Genesis 29:31 – Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah – usually the birthright goes to the eldest but Reuben laying with Bilhah and the next two doing the killing in Shechem caused the birthright to fall upon Judah.
Genesis 29:32 – A man will not love the woman just because she has born him a child. It is a trap to him. Laban broke the commitment to Jacob who was committed to Rachel not Leah. Jacob though did not dishonor Leah but kept the commitment forced upon him in darkness.
Genesis 29:33 – Leah is now putting her value into her children as a mother not a wife to Jacob.
Psalms 10:4 – The wicked will not seek after God. Our pride in our selves keeps us from honoring God as the source of our life. We begin to think of ourselves as more important while we desire to limit God’s influence in our lives. When we advise and direct others, we become more accountable to God to give them the advice that would lead them closer to Him and not glorify ourselves.
Psalms 10:5 – The wicked can’t even see that there is a God to be worshiped except themselves. They blind themselves with their own desires.
Psalms 10:13 – The wicked do not want judgement. They will tell you not to judge them but they judge themselves because they reject God’s precepts. Their claim of being judged by someone is false. One does not judge whether an apple tree is an apple tree, it just is, because it produces apples. These wicked also judge God as Job began to do until he heard from God.
