Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Chronological Bible Reading for January 1
Genesis 1-3
Genesis 1 – In these first few chapters is set the foundation of God’s redemptive plan for the human race. But why would He do this knowing beforehand what He had to do for those that would even believe Him as Abraham did? To put off His Glory and live among us to be rejected and then crucified? We fail by choice, as Adam and Eve disobeyed God by choice, but He provided that path to redemption. When we choose to fail we loose fellowship with Him but in His grace we can receive that fellowship back. He even gave us the example of the husband and wife commitment to remind us of His plan to seek us out and protect us.
Genesis 1:26 – What is the image of God from which we are created? We are created in His image as a painting or a picture is in the image of the subject but if we look at Colossians 1:13-16 we see that Jesus was the image of God as a visible living representation.
Genesis 1:30 – As God showed Peter in his dream while on the roof of Simon’s house in Joppa (Acts 10) all animals were given to be food to eat from the beginning.
Genesis 2:15 – Ah the oldest profession, gardener.
Genesis 2:17 – Here starts the “BIG If” that man must follow. First to not die then don’t eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. A direct translation is “eating therefore death death”. In the direct translation they are dying twice! But they did eat. Once a death of the body and another the death of the eternal soul. It was God’s plan through His grace to give us the opportunity to be born again of spirit and not succumb to the second death as Jesus related to Nicodemus.
Genesis 2:21–22 – Eve was taken form Adam’s side to be a co–worker in the garden. She was not taken from his feet that he would be above her or his head that she might be above him but from the side that they may work together being part of the same importance.
Genesis 3:1 – The corrosion of the creation of man is beginning, a sickness that gets worse if not treated. In Genesis 3:15 the promise of the cure is given and Genesis 3:21 gives the example of the cure.
Genesis 3:3 – God did not tell Adam not to touch it but if we start getting closer to sin then we are more likely to partake in it.
Genesis 3:6 – The pride of knowledge. Going against God’s guidance to get something you want.
Genesis 3:7 – When we sin we try to cover it up because our conscience knows that it is wrong.
Genesis 3:9 – Adam, do you know where you are?
Genesis 3:12 – It’s not my fault! She did it!
Genesis 3:13 – It’s not my fault.
Genesis 3:15 – The promise of the cure is given through the woman.
Genesis 3:21 – The example of the cure, a sacrifice of blood from God to cover the sin and assuage the corruption of it.
Genesis 3:22-24 – The downside of not following God’s plan for us in the “BIG If”
