II Timothy 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
Chronological Bible Reading for October 28
Luke 16; Luke 17:1-10
Luke 16:9 – Whhaattt! Oh, I see better now. The mammon of unrighteousness is material gain that does not bring righteousness but can open the hearts of others to show your faithfulness to God even to the point that they may find your trust in Him appealing.
Jesus is telling His disciples to be as shrewd as those that use unrighteousness to assure a place in this world, to guide your actions in regard to your eternal future. Use your money, your possessions, and your wealth even though it’s part of the unrighteous system. (John MacArthur)
Luke 16:16 – The dispensation of sacrifice ended when John began preaching of repentance. That is when the dispensation of grace became the path to redemption. It was always about believing God.
Luke 16:17 – Jehovah God does not change. Malachi 3:6
Luke 16:22 – Just as when Enoch was taken by God and Elijah was carried up in a chariot by an angel, Lazarus was carried to heaven by angels. We cannot get to Heaven by ourselves. God must provide a guide “that will take our hand” to lead us to Him. By ourselves in our own sinfulness when we die we wake up in hell.
Luke 16:23 – If Hell is to destroy people then why is this rich man able to be in torment, able to see Abraham and talk to him? Hell is a place of eternal torment to the eternal soul, not made for man but for the devil and his angels.
Luke 16:31 – And Jesus is reviled by those others.
Luke 17:4 – This is more than seventy times seven. It’s like seven times three hundred sixty–five times seventy, eighty, ninety, or more years! How many sins will God have forgiven us?
Luke 17:7 – When your ministry in one area of service is over God will have another open and ready for you.
Luke 17:10 – Our works in this world are unprofitable to us for righteousness but are to be in following the dictates of Jehovah.
