Chronological Bible Reading for October 22
Matthew 18
Matthew 18:3 – A little child believes what they are told by their parents. We should believe what God as Father tells us.
Matthew 18:17 – Interesting in that Matthew was a tax–collector and Jesus attended a gathering of tax–collectors. Of course this gathering was to draw them to repentance so it should be our place to encourage repentance even if they refuse to harken to the pleading of the church.
Matthew 18:24 – Ten thousand talents or 204 metric tons of silver, reflecting an astronomical sum of 60 million denarii or 200,000 years of wages for the common worker.
Matthew 18:34-35 – The debt of sin is an eternal debt not one that can be paid back by an action but by the eternal torment of God’s wrath.
