II Timothy 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
Chronological Bible Reading for May 31
I Kings 3-4; II Chronicles 1; Psalms 72
I Kings 3:2 – The people were sacrificing in many different high places. This could possibly cause individuals to esteem one high place above another, thus making a place as god in their heart, instead of Jehovah. This division of worship is dangerous to losing the truth of God’s Word. Even now we esteem one denomination above another based on the teachings we receive. We must study the Word of God to find ourselves approved and not just accept what we hear from others. I have downloaded about 30 free versions of the bible for the e–Sword software and use them to help me understand what I am reading.
I Kings 3:7 – Solomon is showing the wisdom that God has already given him. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That is why we should always turn to God to lead us in discerning and teaching His precepts.
I Kings 3:14 – God’s BIG IF is shown again. Solomon has already brought in a wife from Egypt and she still will worship her gods.
I Kings 4:21 – The River mentioned here was most certainly the upper Euphrates.
I Kings 4:32 – Of these multitude of proverbs and songs we have just a few. There are only 915 verses in Proverbs and not each one stands on its own.
II Chronicles 1:3 – Gibeon was the place that the Ark had been prior to David’s reign in Jerusalem and remained a place of high esteem because the rest of the Tabernacle was still there, being cared for by the Levites and Priests.
Psalms 72:6 – The leadership is to encourage the growth of the people not try to divide them by their differences.
Psalms 72:10 – Prophesy for King David’s son!
Psalms 72:11 – Also here is the prophecy of the eternal king, The King of Kings, the Son of God, Jesus the Lord.
Psalms 72:13 – If you don’t need God in your own mind then He will honor your choice but if you need God and his help He will save you.
Psalms 72:17 – Israel knew that the Sun was not devoured at sunset and reborn at sunrise as the Egyptian religion supposes. They knew that the Sun shone continuously and it was the Earth that turned to hide it from our eyes.
Psalms 72:18 – Yes blessed is the Lord with all that is within me.
