Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Chronological Bible Reading for May 23
II Samuel 24; I Chronicles 21-22; Psalms 30

II Samuel 24:1 – So because Israel had not turned away from their selfishness God is using David to give them a lesson. Will they blame David or will they recognize God’s sovereignty and turn to worship Him.
II Samuel 24:9 – This may not account for all the men that are 20 years old and upward because there were over 600,000 men when they came into the Promised Land. Judah however only had 76,000 men when they came into the Promised Land. Did the growth rate of Judah far surpass that of the rest of Israel or were the most of the rest of Israel not fit for battle? That brings us to now. Am I considered a strong man worthy to be counted for battle when the time arises to defend the Word of God? And by “I”, I mean “you” also.
II Samuel 24:16 –This is the land where Solomon built the Temple (II Chronicles 3:9). God is showing us where His plan for Israel’s worship center is to be built. Even though our worship center to God should be in our heart.
II Samuel 24:24 – What kind of offering is one that does not cost us something. Israel was commanded to bring a sacrifice without blemish. An animal like that would bring a good price and to forego that is definitely a sacrifice that costs. The love of our heart toward God is reflected in the amount of our life that we honor Him. Do we throw in a part of our life to honor God or our whole worth like the widow in Mark 12:42?
I Chronicles 21:2 – David was putting Israel in danger.
Exodus 30:12 When you count the sons of Israel, of those who are to be counted, then they shall each man give a ransom for his soul to Jehovah when you number them, so that there may be no plague among them when you number them.
I Chronicles 21:5 – This does not precisely fit with II Samuel 24:9, but the conservative number in II Samuel may have been due to differences in abilities of those that were numbered and the scribes’ decision on which part of the data is relevant. That brings us to now, am I considered a strong man worthy to be counted for battle when the time arises to defend the Word of God? And by “I”, I mean “you” also.
I Chronicles 21:6 – Levi was not to be counted anyway because they were to be devoted to take care of the things God had separated to them. Benjamin was the least of Israel.
I Chronicles 21:15 – This is the land where Solomon built the Temple. God is showing us where His plan for Israel’s worship center is to be built. Even though our worship center to God should be in our heart.
I Chronicles 21:24 – What kind of offering is one that does not cost us something.
I Chronicles 22:6 – This is David’s plan for succession as he is reminded in 1Kings 1:17 And she said to him, My lord, you swore by Jehovah your God to your handmaid, saying, Surely your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.
I Chronicles 22:14 – David had faith that God would fulfill His promise of David’s son to build the Temple to house the Ark. David’s faith was not a believe and know but his faith was a believe and prepare.
