Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Chronological Bible Reading for March 25
Joshua 9-11
Joshua 9:2 – Now Israel does not have to travel to destroy the armies of Canaan. God has brought them together to be defeated at one place.
Joshua 9:17 – God did leave this group of people out of the command for destruction in Deuteronomy 7:2 but they would have been a target of destruction because they lived in the land. In other words “He knew, He, knew”.
Jos 9:24 – These people believed in Jehovah and His power as much or more than the Israelites did. They saw His power and were afraid. “… the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! “Job 28:28)”
Joshua 10:5 – Again God is bringing these Canaanites together so that Israel will not have to travel far to do battle. Joshua was not allowed to attack the Gibeonites but God used the jealously of their neighbors to attack them and prove that Joshua would keep his covenant with them.
Joshua 10:11 – God is showing the men of Israel that He is doing the work and that the soldiers are there to represent Him.
Joshua 10:12 – God does a miracle that the scientists of this world cannot explain away. To extend the day would mean stopping the Earth’s rotation which would cause massive flooding from the oceans due to their inertia. To stop time on the mass of the Earth and leave it running to just above the surface would however allow this to happen. We cannot do that, nor do we have any idea of how it could be done except by the Creator Jehovah God Himself.
Joshua 10:43 – God used the army and Joshua’s leadership to clear out the land so that they may inhabit it. Yes, all the people they encountered were killed. God was removing the worship of false gods from the land. If you remember reading that God had told Abram that iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. By now their iniquity is more than full because they had an extra forty years to add to it.
Joshua 11:5 – Another instance of God bringing the Canaanites into a big group to do battle with Israel.
Joshua 11:6 – God is going to battle with these armies so that they will be defeated in one day so that Israel will have pride in Him and His provision for them not themselves.
Joshua 11:15 – Joshua was faithful to complete God’s directions in the building of the new land.
Joshua 11:23 – Now Israel can leave Galgal and proceed to the cities and land in which their tribes were assigned. Also there is no record of Joshua being distraught because of the death of the men. Perhaps God protected them and there were no fatalities for Israel.
