Chronological Bible Reading for March 13
Deuteronomy 5-7
Deuteronomy 5:3 – God makes the covenant to those that are alive on the earth at each point in time, today. Today is the day of salvation. Turn to God and walk in the path that He has set for life.
Deuteronomy 5:22 – These 10 commandments God gave to us so that any who could fulfill them would be acceptable to God. We all have fallen short of following these commandments except the Son of God, the man Christ Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God. He did not have the heritage of defiance that came from Adam, thus allowing Him to be able to fulfill the commandments in His life. He was not deceived like Eve but rebuked Satan’s temptation.
Deuteronomy 5:25 – It is sad that they did not believe that God would protect them if they listened to Him.
Deuteronomy 5:29 – What a heritage to have such a heart for God that you and your descendants would have such respect for God that you would be able to follow His commandments fully.
Deuteronomy 6:2 – The commandments, statutes, and judgments are there for us to fear God and keep His statutes whereas Jesus came, suffered, and died so that we may see God’s love for us and to return that love to Him by keeping His statutes.
Deuteronomy 6:4–5 – This is the greatest commandment as Jesus verified as shown in Mark 12:29–30. When you love someone you invest yourself into knowing that person and doing things for them.
Deuteronomy 6:7 – Here is where we fail the most to keep God’s Word by not talking about His plan with our family, friends, and acquaintances.
Deuteronomy 6:12 – Be on guard and do not let your curiosity (covetousness) take you toward the worship of false gods (“emotions”, “self”, “wealth”, …) , or your comfort to forget where these good things come form.
Deuteronomy 6:16 – Massah, where the people called out against Moses for lack of water, for they had yet learned to trust God for everything.
Deuteronomy 6:21 – Remember who God is, and what He has done for you, for we are His people and are to represent Him to unbelievers.
Deuteronomy 7:1 – Six of these will band together with the Hivites to fight Israel in Joshua 9. Only the Girgashites are not mentioned but they were included in the retelling of the battle in Joshua 24:11. Because something or someone is not mentioned does not mean that it’s not in existence in that instance.
Deuteronomy 7:2 – However those that lived in Gibeon were not mentioned but were intended to be destroyed also.
Deuteronomy 7:3 – Being unequally yoked is like having a tire out of alignment. It’s difficult to stay on the road and both will have excessive wear due to their different directions being yoked together. If there is not an experienced driver to keep it on the road it could easily veer away from the intended direction.
Deuteronomy 7:8 – God does not choose us because we are special in man’s eyes, He chooses us because He loves us.
Deuteronomy 7:9 – WOW! a thousand generations to those that Love Him. There hadn’t been that many since Adam.
Deuteronomy 7:10 – Those that hate Him, those that do not listen to Him and keep His commandments, have made their decision and are individually dealt with.
Deuteronomy 7:12–16 – These verses show the positive results of trusting and following God’s plan.
Deuteronomy 7:17 – When you doubt, remember God’s works heretofore.
Deuteronomy 7:22 – Wow, we should expect less trouble from people than from the beasts of the field.
Deuteronomy 7:25 – Don’t even covet the riches of those that worship other gods so to keep your reliance on Jehovah and trusting in His plan. When Jesus cast out demons and they affirmed that He is the Son of God He told them to be quiet. He wouldn’t let them speak even if they were telling the truth.
