II Timothy 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
Chronological Bible Reading for July 30
Isaiah 54-58
Isaiah 54:1–17 – If this prophecy was for the Jews at their return from captivity in Babylon then they would not be taken over. But if this prophecy is for the time of Jesus then it shows the Nation Israel was the bride having few to follow God and the Christians were the desolate woman that would be the fruitful bride of God reproducing not of heritage but of faith.
Isaiah 55:1 – God invites everyone to come and take part in the provision that He has made. The provision that fills the hunger that we all long for.
Isaiah 55:2 – Many people try to fill the void in their life with things. They do not pursue God’s provision which will satisfy the hunger that they hope to fill.
Isaiah 55:7 – God provides a way for the wicked to receive repentance as well as the “righteous”. Because all have sinned and have fallen short of God’s glory. Those that have been forgiven much will love much.
Isaiah 56:3 – God’s acceptance is not based on inheritance but faith. Romans 4:3 Abraham believed God and was counted to him for righteousness (Gen 15:6). The children are to come by faith not inheritance.
Isaiah 56:5 – Eunuchs were not even allowed on the temple grounds but God will give them righteousness if thy trust in Him.
Isaiah 56:11 – Just as Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas, what God provided was not enough.
Isaiah 57:1 – When the Church is taken up the world will not care what happened to us or where we may be.
Isaiah 58:1 – Isaiah implores us to be a faithful witness to God’s word and show others that this turning away from God and His precepts is detrimental to all our lives.
Isa 58:4 – (Matthew Henry) “A fast is a day to afflict the soul; if it do not express a genuine sorrow for sin, and do not promote a real mortification of sin, it is not a fast; …The fast that God has chosen consists in reforming our lives and undoing what we have done amiss”
Isaiah 58:13 – The BIG IF defines our destination. We make the choice to honor Jehovah God or not. If we do not accept Him as our God then we are still doomed to condemnation because of His Word.
