II Timothy 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
Chronological Bible Reading for July 29
Isaiah 49-53
Isaiah 49:7 – Jesus is despised by those that do not want God’s will but only their own. He is the Redeemer of Israel and the whole world but so many reject Him because of their pride of self–sufficiency and their strong desire to offend Him.
Isaiah 49:22 – The dispersed people of Israel were to be protected by the nations and venerated to be returned by those that are not ashamed of God’s provision for salvation.
Isaiah 49:25 – God is saying don’t fight with Israel or I’ll fight with you.
Isaiah 50:1 – Yes, God will protect Israel from unjust outside attacks but He will also punish them for their own iniquities as a father punishes a child for wrongdoing. God still loves them and they are His people so the punishment is meant to be a guide to repentance and reconciliation.
Isaiah 50:5-6 – Jesus had these same experiences during His arrest and trials.
Isaiah 50:10 – The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. The person that fears God but has no hope needs to trust in God and do His will. For it is not God’s will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. For in Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God is the only name under Heaven in which we must be saved.
Isaiah 50:11 – If you build yourself a path to righteousness and continue in your self-made plan then you will not be a part of God’s reward to those that trust in His path of salvation through Jesus.
Isaiah 52:14 – Again, another description of how Jesus will be treated during His “trial”.
Isaiah 52:15 – Paul uses the second half of this verse In Romans 15:21 as an explanation of where he had been preaching the Gospel.
Isaiah 53:1–12 – This description of The Redeemer that Israel looks forward to is Jesus, rejected of men, despised because of His followers, unrecognizable after the beatings and lashings. God put Him in the position of the sin offering where our sin is laid on Him yet God raises Him up to be the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Isaiah 53:3 – Here we transition from a present tense rejection to a past tenses rejection, from Him being despised to esteemed Him not. This realization is for Israel at the time of Jesus to a repentant Israel yet to come.
