II Timothy 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
Chronological Bible Reading for July 27
Isaiah 44-48

Isaiah 44:8 – Interesting reference to the Hebrew “tsoor” some translated as “God” others “Rock”. My thought is “foundation” for God is not built on something, He is eternally existent and He will be what He will be. His descriptive names show us, Ehyah Asher Ehyeh: Literally, I will be what I will be.(I am that I am) Exodus 3:14. Jah (poetical language) The Lord. Expressive of eternal existence. Psalms 68:4
Isaiah 44:14–18 – You are blind and without understanding if you make an image and worship it to honor yourself and your bountiful situation of which the image had no part in. In many cases when an invading army captures a place they take the defeated peoples idols back to worship toward. Again, why worship a defeated god?
Isaiah 44:20 – In the COVID epidemic the professional baseball teams had considered putting up cardboard cutouts of fans. A fan is useless in a game that requires that kind of skill but they have to have something to worship or worship them even if it is only an idol made of cardboard.
Isaiah 44:28 – This prophecy is made before Cyrus was born. Cyrus the Great conquered Babylon and allowed the Jews to return to their homeland to rebuild the temple.
Isaiah 45:1–13 This is a direct message to Cyrus letting him know that Jehovah was preparing his path long before his parents were born.
Isaiah 45:21 – Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before Me.
Isaiah 47:7 – God has never condoned cruel slavery. A servant was one that had a debt to pay or had no income and sold his services to someone. One reason Israel and Judah were carried away to Babylon was because they owed the land it’s Sabbath years of rest. One year of every seven and a double rest after forty–eight years.
Isaiah 47:8–11 – No matter how safe and happy your life is it is totally unsafe when you are turned away from God and His plan for your life.
Isaiah 48:1 – Your ancestors or where you live do not make you a child of God. You become a child of God when you make Jehovah Lord of your life and believe Him.
Isaiah 48:5 – God’s plan is sure to come to pass because He is active and sees to its completion.
Isaiah 48:11 – God completes what He starts, He does what He says, but sometimes He warns us of the results of our actions if we do not turn away from sin.
Isaiah 48:18–19 – Israel gave up so much to turn their back on God and follow their own selfish pride.
