Chronological Bible Reading for July 16
Isaiah 13-17
Isaiah 13:1 – (Henry’s Commentary) It is a burden, a lesson they were to learn (so some understand it), but they would be loath to learn it, and it would be a burden to their memories, or a load which should lie heavily upon them and under which they should sink. Those that will not make the word of God their rest (Isa_28:12; Jer_6:16) shall find it made a burden to them.
Isaiah 14:27 – What could change God’s mind. He is able to guide the righteous and wicked to perform His will.
Isaiah 14:32 – God has continued to keep His covenant to Abraham. The work is not yet finished but the reference of Zion signifies that Jerusalem will someday be a permanent capital.
Isaiah 15:5 – Lot also had fled to Zoar before Sodom & Gomorrah were destroyed.
Isaiah 16:1 – Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness where Satan tempted him to turn rocks into bread and was brought before Pilot and was crucified on Calvary outside Jerusalem.
Isaiah 16:4 – This prophecy of Moab’s downfall is the short term evidence of the longer term prophecies that were given to Isaiah by God.
Isaiah 17:7 – The sad thing is that they only show respect but do not turn to worship God and follow His Law.
