Bible Reading for August 30 (ONPP)
I Thessalonians 1 – 3, Psalms 57
I Thessalonians 1:7 – When Paul and Silas were at Thessalonica the unbelieving Jews quickly began to persecute the believers and searched for Paul and Silas but the brothers in Thessalonica took them away to Berea. The believers withstood the persecution as Christ did and are a witness to God’s grace. And what a witness it was that spread throughout the region so that Paul did not have to convince any of the truth of the gospel.
I Thessalonians 2:12 – Our actions do show what we believe as what is in our heart is revealed by our speech.
I Thessalonians 2:16 – The pride of the Jews, wanting to be the only people that God loves. They based that premise on heritage, not faith as Abraham did.
I Thessalonians 3:6 – God showed Paul, through the witness of the Thessalonians, that His Word does not go out in vain. Though it is not accepted by all, even a third of the angels denied it, those that found it pleasing hung on to it fiercely.
I Thessalonians 3:11 – Paul yearned to visit Thessalonica again but he gave God the leadership role in his ministry and did not make any vow that might divert him from the path that God had put him on.
Psalms 57:6 – This happened to Haman in Shushan of Persia. Not a pit but gallows meant for Mordecai. Esther 7:9
Psalms 57:11 – AMEN!
