Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for April 13 (ONPP)
Judges 19 – 21, Psalms 88
Judges 19:1 – This is the second Levite coming out of Bethlehem.
Judges 19:22 – These men of Benjamin in Gibeah are acting like those in Sodom.
Judges 20:2 – Four hundred thousand is nearly two–thirds the amount that they came out of Egypt with!
Judges 20:15 – What pride in family to bring up twenty–six thousand seven hundred men to uphold ungodly behavior against four hundred thousand. They had no pride in God nor His Laws.
Judges 20:21 – Benjamin is strong and mighty but God knows that by allowing so many deaths to Israel they will have compassion to a defeated Benjamin.
Judges 20:28 – The grandson of Aaron was priest in those days. How do they so soon forget what Jehovah had done for them to bring them out of slavery?
Judges 20:35 – Now Benjamin has lost twenty–five thousand one hundred men leaving one thousand six hundred men. Benjamin may have lost one thousand men in the first two days because of the small leftover group.
Judges 20:48 – Now Israel is treating Benjamin the same way they were told to treat the inhabitants that worshiped the false gods of the land when they first arrived with Joshua.
Judges 21:2 – The fruit of those that perished in the first two days of battle ripens.
Judges 21:8 – God does not leave His people barren. His provision for Benjamin came from the city that did not come out against them. Sadly for the inhabitants of the city God provides for those left of Benjamin.
Judges 21:12 – Oh no how will they provide wives to 600 men of Benjamin with only 400 girls?
Judges 21:19 – Very specific directions on how to get there.
Judges 21:22 – There is a loophole in that contract!!
Judges 21:23 – So Benjamin is now down to six hundred families.
Judges 21:25 – This makes the eighth time that Israel turns away from God.
Psalms 88 – Heman sounds totally depressed. His cry reminds me of Job after losing his herds and family, or Hannah praying for a child, or Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Many other Psalms have this idea of being downtrodden and calling on God for assistance. We have these times in our lives when we forget God’s goodness and mercy. His propitiation for us is eternal and does not depend on the things of this world but His power and Glory.
